How it started...

A broken down pottery kiln, an engineering degree from Brown University, and an entrepreneurial spirit, these were the tools needed to launch Ipsen and the rest is history.

In 1948, Harold Ipsen founded Ipsen Industries in Rockford, Illinois to design and manufacture atmosphere heat treating equipment. Along the way, Ipsen has added the well-proven vacuum furnace manufacturing brands of Abar (Abar-Ipsen) and Vacuum Furnace Systems (VFS) to its product line in order to offer a wider range of solutions to its customers.
